TAFE courses


You can also study a range of HR, OHS and workplace certificate and diploma courses at TAFE colleges throughout Australia. All accredited TAFE courses are recognised nationally. Many job ads now ask for specific TAFE or higher qualifications, for example an OHS officer may need the minimum of a ‘Certificate IV in Occupational Health & Safety’.

HR courses at TAFE come under Business Studies and qualifications include:

  • Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training
  • Certificate IV Workplace safety
  • Certificate IV in Business (Human Resources)
  • Diploma of Business (Human Resources).

The structure of a HR course may have 10 units of study with:

  • a minimum of 4 units from Human Resources Management
  • a minimum of 3 common business units at Certificate IV
  • 3 units from the Business Services Training Package or other training package.
