Universities across Australia offer undergraduate and postgraduate courses in human resources, covering industrial law, education and training and OHS.
Several universities also offer HR through their Business Faculty, while some offer other degree programs such as applied science that have majors in HR.
The Year 12 cut-off mark differs significantly from university to university. Courses with a high cut-off aren't necessarily more difficult; they may just be more popular. The location of the university is often a factor.
Specialist paths
Specialised areas of HR study like OHS, industrial relations, and learning and development have emerged. For example, the University of Sydney offers a Bachelor of Economic and Social Sciences in Industrial Relations.
A Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety is available at the University of Newcastle, which has one of the most comprehensive health faculties in Australia.
Other options include combining your qualifications, by completing a Bachelor of Health Sciences, or a Bachelor of Exercise Science (Rehabilitation), and then a Graduate Diploma (Occupational Health and Safety), for instance.
