Business Services Managers plan, direct, coordinate and organise the administrative functions of a business. Highly organised, with the ability to respond quickly to new challenges and priorities, Business Services Managers keep operations running smoothly.
Tasks and duties
- Providing strategic operational support, such as advice to senior management on facilities, financials and information services.
- Managing organisational resources.
- Analysing complex resource issues and preparing reports, summaries and submissions.
- Developing administrative, financial and operational guidelines for staff.
- Leading, developing and managing the administrative team to ensure smooth operations.
- Promoting new initiatives and representing the organisation at functions.
How to become a Business Services Manager
While Business Services Managers are not required to hold formal qualifications, extensive work experience is an advantage and related qualifications may be looked on favourably.
- 1.Start in a junior role in an administrative function and work your way up, gaining knowledge and experience on the job.
- 2.Consider completing a degree in business or business administration. You’ll need to have completed year 12 to a satisfactory level or apply for flexible entry.
- 3.If you already have a degree but in an unrelated field, consider a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Entry requirements vary, but generally you’ll need to have completed an undergraduate degree and have significant work experience.
