What's it like to be a Cluster Manager?
Cluster Managers are responsible for the performance of groups of retail stores, known as clusters. They oversee sales, finances and staffing of a retail cluster at the local, state or national level and ensure performance targets are met. A Cluster Manager needs extensive managerial experience in the retail industry, familiarity with stock and inventory control, and the ability to motivate others. They work for wholesale and retail trade businesses that operate in multiple locations.
Tasks and duties
- Leading and motivating retail managers and employees across multiple locations.
- Setting sales targets and key performance indicators.
- Ensuring consistency of visual merchandising across multiple retail stores.
- Monitoring stock levels and financial transactions of multiple store locations.
- Acting as a liaison between retail managers and upper management.
- Assisting with recruitment and training processes.
- Preparing rosters and allocating duties.
How to become a Cluster Manager
You don’t need a formal qualification to work as a Cluster Manager, but extensive retail industry experience is essential. A tertiary qualification in retail management may be beneficial.
- 1.Build relevant experience in an entry-level retail job, such as Sales Assistant. As you develop, seek opportunities to build leadership skills.
- 2.Consider completing a Certificate IV in Retail Management (SIR40316).
- 3.You may complete additional qualifications to broaden your retail career options, such as a Diploma of Retail Leadership (SIR50116) or Diploma of Business (BSB50120).
