What's it like to be a Facilities Coordinator?
Facilities Coordinators are responsible for the daily maintenance of a premises, including safety and security measures. They often work at schools, shopping centres, hotels and stadiums. Facilities Coordinators typically work under a Facilities Manager to maintain office equipment, fixtures, fittings and furniture, and may also be responsible for the maintenance of telecommunications systems. Facilities Coordinators often test building security systems and prepare for emergencies by creating action plans.
Tasks and duties
- Coordinating repairs, cleaning, maintenance and renovations.
- Handling building and equipment emergencies.
- Monitoring and reporting on operational expenses and facility income.
- Hiring and managing support staff and contractors.
- Planning and coordinating the use of the facility for special functions.
- Ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations.
- Maintaining equipment and internal systems, such as heating and air conditioning systems, alarms and security cameras.
- Restocking office and kitchen supplies.
- Responding to urgent maintenance calls and contributing to emergency preparedness plans.
