What's it like to be a Remediation Manager?
Remediation Managers provide compliance support and guidance to organisations. They ensure an organisation is compliant with industry regulations and coordinate and implement remediation plans in the event of a compliance breach. A Remediation Manager needs to obtain and analyse information from multiple sources and manage stakeholders to present responses to regulators. They typically work in financial services, banking, insurance and professional services.
Tasks and duties
- Managing a team of remediation staff.
- Setting and managing productivity and quality targets.
- Ensuring organisational compliance with relevant policies and legislation.
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with industry regulators.
- Developing remediation plans and frameworks.
- Collaborating with other business areas such as legal to coordinate responses for regulators.
- Keeping senior leaders and board members updated with matters relating to remediation.
- Gathering and analysing data from multiple sources.
- Providing financial information and details of remediation work to industry regulators.
How to become a Remediation Manager
You usually need a bachelor degree in a related field to work as a Remediation Manager. This is a senior role requiring extensive experience and knowledge of industry legislation.
- Complete a bachelor degree in finance, business, commerce, law, accounting or a similar field. This usually takes three to four years. Look for internship opportunities while studying to get industry experience.
- Consider advancing your skills and knowledge with postgraduate study, such as a Master of Finance. This usually takes one to two years.
- Build experience working in an entry-level role in a relevant industry such as banking, financial services or insurance.
- Continue to develop your expertise in industry legislation, risk management and organisational compliance.
