Machine Operators use heavy machinery to undertake manufacturing tasks, and often specialise in one type of specific machinery. The machines may be controlled by hand or computer. Machine Operators are responsible for making sure they are set up well, working efficiently and producing a high-quality product. - Operating machinery carefully.
- Operating power tools.
- Reading job specifications to understand what’s needed.
- Manually loading materials into the machinery.
- Working quickly and accurately in a fast-paced production line.
- Hazard reduction.
- Minimising wastage.
- Checking output for quality.
- Maintaining equipment and repairing when necessary.
How to become a Machine Operator
Formal qualifications are not essential to become a Machine Operator, but you may be required to hold specific licences or tickets.
- 1.Decide what industry you want to work in.
- 2.It may be beneficial for you to have a forklift licence. The average course duration is 4 days, and there are no minimum entry requirements.
- 3.You may also need a high risk work licence, from Safe Work Australia.
