How to become a Nanny
While you don’t need specific educational training to work as a Nanny, there are some minimum certifications you’ll need to hold.
- 1.You’ll most likely need a Working With Children Check, a National Police Check, a First Aid Certificate and CPR certification.
- 2.Consider completing a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121) through TAFE or a registered training organisation.
- 3.You could also consider a bachelor degree in education. Having a teaching degree would allow you to offer an extended range of services as a Nanny, and keep you in demand. The course would take 3 years full-time, and you’ll need a pretty good ATAR or to apply for flexible entry.
- 4.Consider joining the Australian Nanny Association, which have their own minimum requirements for accreditation.
