Tasks and duties
- Working with a sales team to determine solutions to customers’ challenges and supporting the sales team to present proposals to clients.
- Providing demonstrations, presentations, training, consultation and sales support services for the sales team and existing clients.
- Building relationships with customers and proactively seeking new sales opportunities by developing new relationships with prospective clients.
How to become a Presales Consultant
While formal qualifications are not required to work as a Presales Consultant in Australia, many employers prefer candidates with a relevant degree.
- Consider completing a relevant qualification. This could be a degree in business or commerce, or a degree related to your field of work, such as a Bachelor of Information Technology or Bachelor of Computer Science.
- Gain sales experience in the industry you want to work in. Learn presales skills such as analysing potential markets, crafting sales pitches, qualifying prospects and strategic planning.
- If you’re interested in pursuing a more senior position after working as a Presales Consultant, consider completing a relevant postgraduate degree, such as a Master of Business Administration.
