What's it like to be a Storeperson?
A Storeperson handles products being received or dispatched by stores. They are responsible for receiving, handling and packing goods. A degree of physical fitness is generally required to work as a Storeperson, as it is a job that requires lifting and coordination.Did you find this video helpful?
Tasks and duties
- Unloading goods.
- Receiving and scanning goods and checking against orders.
- Inspecting for damage.
- Moving goods around a store.
- Stocking shelves and stacking heavy goods safely.
- Picking goods from shelves and recording their movements.
- Packing and sending orders to customers.
- Moving heavy pallets and goods using a forklift.
How to become a Storeperson
You don’t need any formal qualifications to work as a Storeperson, but there are courses that may provide you with helpful skills and knowledge. A forklift licence is commonly required.
- 1.Consider completing a relevant vocational qualification, such as a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations (TLI30321). This will prepare you for work in a warehouse environment.
- 2.Gain relevant licences. Depending on your role, you may be required to hold a forklift licence and high risk work licence.
