English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students Teacher

The worst job I ever had. Happier the day I left.
The good thingsNot many good things other than the students who are taken advantage of for their money.
The challengesSucks the life out of you. Ruined my love for teaching. Treat their teachers like slaves for profit. They have favourites. Dirty toilets. Overcharge their students and underpay their teachers. Make teachers stay casual for years and years and years.

    VET ELICOS Trainer
    Feb 2025
Melbourne VIC 3000Less than 1 year in the role, former employee
Sometimes Teachers has to teach around 60-100 students with the same salary. Worse place to work. Bad Administration and No real Protection for Trainers against the students. Lot of students can't even speak English attending vet curses. Now you can think what Trainers would have to do to teach the students without English language?
The good thingsEvery good thing is undone by negative things
The challengesMoney Oriented administration. No protocol to protect Trainers against students. Students can launch a complaint if trainer doesn't pass the students. As a result, trainers have to pass the students with low quality assignments. Management shift their own responsibilities on trainers.

This workplace succeeds in degrading your position and skills as a teacher.
The good thingsThe students! The students were amazing and that's what made the job.
The challengesManagement. Management. Management. No feedback, no support, no opportunities, toxic environment.
