From our humble beginnings in 1996 in North Queensland, KINNECT is now one of Australia’s leading privately owned occupational health companies.Over three decades, we’ve seen the complexities facing our workforce evolve through major and minor legislative changes, pandemics, technological advances and economic fluctuations. We’ve responded to employers’ needs for a wider range of support by growing KINNECT from a handful of consultants providing workplace rehabilitation services to a national company with more than 20 offices and a large affiliate network offering the full scope of occupational health services supporting workers and employers through practical, person-centred care.

What’s it like working at KINNECT?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees consistently praise the positive culture and supportive colleagues at KINNECT, noting that the team is friendly, collaborative, and genuinely cares about one another. Management is approachable and actively encourages professional growth, with leaders regularly recognising accomplishments. The work/life balance is genuinely respected, with flexible working arrangements, work from home options, and perks such as paid birthday leave. Employees appreciate the strong emphasis on continuous professional development, with structured supervision, regular training, and clear career progression pathways. The work itself is described as meaningful, challenging, and rewarding, with a focus on quality outcomes. KINNECT is also noted for its diversity and inclusive environment.

However, there are some potential challenges, such as the fast-paced environment which can be demanding during busy periods, though support is available to help manage workload. The initial 3-6 month learning period involves gaining knowledge about occupational rehabilitation, though the supportive environment ensures questions are always welcomed. Workload can be unpredictable at times, with multiple competing priorities. Some employees in Support Services roles have noted that pay rates are lower compared to public sector positions, though many feel the work/life balance compensates for this. The file management system, Carelever, continues to be a work in progress and can create additional administrative tasks.

Meaningful impact, strong culture, and sustainable work life balance
The good thingsWorking at KINNECT has been genuinely rewarding. The work is meaningful, the people are supportive, and there is a strong sense of purpose in helping others return to health and work. I have really enjoyed the variety, the trust placed in me, and the ongoing opportunities to learn and grow. There is a genuine focus on building a positive culture, supported by strong systems and a willingness to embrace innovation and AI. Work life balance is respected, the people are great to work with, and overall I am very happy at KINNECT.
The challengesLike any growing organisation, things can move quickly, and the pace during normal office hours can be fast. That said, there is a genuine respect for work life balance. Emails after 5pm are rare, time off is respected, and there is a strong culture of switching off during holidays, including paid birthday leave! This balance makes the fast pace sustainable and positive.

For those seeking a fulfilling career with a supportive team and real growth opportunities!
The good thingsFrom the moment I started at KINNECT, I experienced consistent support from the team. There is close guidance and supervision in the first 3–6 months to help you become confident and independent in the role. Importantly, the support doesn’t stop once you reach independence, ongoing assistance and collaboration are always available, which I really value. Another key factor that encouraged me to stay at KINNECT is the clear and structured career progression pathway. In previous roles, progression often depended solely on managerial discretion and could take months or years. At KINNECT, there are transparent criteria outlining goals and performance expectations, with the opportunity to review progress every three months. This creates a fair, motivating, and rewarding environment.
The challengesThe main challenge is the initial 3–6 month learning period, where you gain knowledge about occupational rehabilitation and your role within the Workcover scheme. While there’s a lot to learn, the supportive environment ensures questions are always welcomed and answered.

KINNECT is a great company for someone looking to get into the occupational rehabilitation space
The good thingsKINNECT have been very supportive in helping transition into the occupational rehabilitation space. They allow flexible working arrangements and want to assist with professional and personal growth. The people at KINNECT are friendly and we assist each other as required.
The challengesThere aren't many challenges I have faced at KINNECT. The managers support you if you have any questions or concerns. I guess the main challenge is being able to multi-task as your client list grows.
