What’s it like working at Macquarie University Health?

    AI summary of recent reviews

Employees at Macquarie University Health appreciate the state-of-the-art facilities and advanced technology, working in a clean, modern, and well-computerised environment. Colleagues are described as friendly, helpful, and passionate, with good diversity and teamwork. The doctors are noted as innovative and a key positive aspect of the workplace. Additionally, the salary and salary packaging benefits through Maxxia, along with flexibility with shifts, are highlighted as attractive features of employment.

However, there are some potential challenges, including concerns about management and leadership styles and decision-making. The hospital experiences high staff turnover, particularly among senior staff, requiring ongoing training of new employees. Some employees have noted that training and development opportunities could be enhanced, and communication between certain departments could be improved. Additionally, parking is difficult and expensive, and the computer systems require frequent use, which some staff feel impacts efficiency in patient care.

Go in with eyes open, question everything, and get EVERYTHING in writing.
The good thingsInnovative doctors, hard working staff,
The challengesChanges in executive management from 2018 changed culture of hospital from one of staff empowerment and work life balance to financially motivated. Staff concerns are not acknowledged, dismissed or manipulated to suit executive priorities. Staff education and development is considered a waste of time and resources with many areas poorly trained and staffed and education and SIM department almost non-existent. Management that advocates for staff and patient safety doesn't last long due to incorrect 'stakeholder' priorities. Executive is incompetent and leads through intimidation and blame when held accountable for making financially detrimental decisions due to weaponised incompetence. Hospital has slowly deteriorated from one of the best private institutions I had worked in, to everything that gives private healthcare a bad reputation.
