    Their brand is a lie.
The good thingsSmall pockets of people trying to do good things.
The challengesThis is the best of workplaces and the worst of employers. It's led by fools and staffed by heroes. The city sucks life and the regions give life. Care hides in small exchanges while irrelevance shines from the Board. Money is taken, none is shared. Animals die that could be saved and careers are saved that should end, this is not the place to work unless you are comfortable with contradiction.

Not what they make themselves out to be.
The good things-Rehoming mistreated dogs. Especially the ones supervisors and managers had all but written off. -Some of the "front line" staff members are amazing.
The challenges-Red tape and work place politics leading to euthanisations -The highest employee turn-over rate I have ever seen -Staff to animal ratio and workload means most dogs are in kennel 23.5 hours a day. -Watching dogs decline due to the conditions leading to them being labelled "unadoptable". -Extremely toxic work environment -Head office completely detached and unaware of the goings-on within the actual shelter. -Corrupt system where it seems Inspectors are encouraged to seize/confiscate more and more animals. Sometimes for the slightest of infractions. More animals in the system means a bigger grant from the government the next financial year. Where this grant money goes? Certainly not the animals that need it. It goes to things like a multimillion dollar shed Ifull of rescue vehicles that will never be used. But atleast it made for a great photo op that one day.

    Animal Attendant

Do not work for RSPCA Massive staff turnover because the environment is toxic, they’re understaffed and the attendants have way too much on their plates and aren’t properly trained, and the pay is terrible. They have no concept of how to train or rehabilitate dogs so way too many are euthanised for behaviours that can be fixed. What was initially a dream job turned out to a nightmare, I lost count of the amount of dogs I’ve watched get put to sleep.
