The challengesI came in for a trial shift. I am a chef of 11 years experience, saw the post of a potential prep job. I trialed that day. Was a very uncomfortable trial, almost felt like they were just under staffed so they made me work a day with no intention of hiring anyone. By the end of the shift they chucked out my personal travel mug ($40) then blamed me for it. I don't recommend this place at all.

One of the best jobs I’ve had - Deli Southport
The good thingsWonderful, amazing deli team, made so many good friends. The work can be physical and a bit gross at times (e.g. handling raw chicken) but everyone chips in to help. The supervisors try to make the work fair so that you’re not the only person doing everything, and they were very accomodating with my uni if I gave adequate notice. Lovely customers 9 times out of 10. Good banter with other departments and AMAZING produce. Only left because I finished my degree but think about the deli a lot. One of the best jobs I’ve had :)

The worst place to work. I only work here because I am extremely desperate and have no other choice.

The challengesMost of the butchers here are super rude, I’ve been physically pushed out of the way by one of them and they have extreme favouritism towards workers. If you’re not liked by them, it’s extremely hard to work with them by how uncomfortable they make you feel. I’ve only been here for a month, but I’ve genuinely began hating this place and I cannot stand working here anymore. HR seems to be of no help, so it feels like there is no support. If you want to feel belittled and made to work with gross meat for minimum wage, this is the right job for you!
