How to become a Steelfixer
You can work as a Steel Fixer without formal qualifications, but it may be helpful to complete a trade qualification in steel fixing. An equivalent level of demonstrated experience working in a construction environment may also be accepted. A white card is essential and additional certifications such as a work safely at heights certification may be required by some employers.
- 1.Obtain your Construction Induction Card (white card) through the online application process.
- 2.Consider completing a trade qualification in steel fixing, such as the Certificate III in Steelfixing (CPC31111). This qualification may be gained either through completion of a part-time course, or through a Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment process, where your skills and work experience are tested by a Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
- 3.Attain your work safely at heights certificate (RIIWHS204D). This can be attained through completion of a short course from an RTO.
- 4.Some employers may require additional short course certifications from your RTO.
