What's it like to be a Warehouse Storeperson?
A Warehouse Storeperson assists with receiving, storing and delivering goods to or from a warehouse. Warehouse Storepeople commonly use forklifts to load and unload trucks and to move items within the depot, and work under the direction of a Warehouse Supervisor.
Tasks and duties
- Processing orders by following documented procedures for receiving, stocking and distributing warehouse goods.
- Loading and unloading goods before picking and packing orders as required, being sure to follow health and safety guidelines.
- Undertaking general warehouse duties, including cleaning, stock inventory and providing exceptional customer service to those collecting their goods from the warehouse.
How to become a Warehouse Storeperson
To work as a Warehouse Storeperson in Australia you don’t need formal qualifications, as on-the-job training is usually provided. However, you can undertake study in the field.
- 1.Gain experience in the warehouse and storage industry. You may also wish to undertake post-secondary education, such as a Certificate II in Supply Chain Operations (TLI20421). There are not usually any entry requirements for this qualification.
- 2.Warehouse Storepeople who are looking to further their career may wish to undertake further study (such as a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations (TLI30321) and work their way up to becoming a warehouse supervisor.
